WMWP Technology Event Feb 4, 2012

This event will examine how to use elements of popular culture to connect learning to the Common Core standards through digital media and composition. Participants will explore how cultural influences can be meaningfully incorporated and will have hands-on experience creating examples using pop culture. The keynote will feature the Video Vanguard program which produces student videos. The event costs $35 and provides 3 PDPs, and will be held on February 4th at West Springfield Middle School from 9am to 12:30pm.

How many times have you wondered just how influential popular culture is in the lives of your students? This Western Massachusetts Writing Project Technology Event will examine elements from popular culture as a means for connecting learning with the new Massachusetts/Common Core Framework. The focus will be on Anchor Standards for use of digital media in writing and in reading. Participants will explore cultural influences in meaningful ways and through various rhetorical lenses.
