A Lab Report On Fitting Workshop Practice

The lab report describes workshop practices for working with metals, including filing, drilling, cutting, threading, and finishing a metal piece. Tools used included files, try squares, bench vices, punches, scribers, drilling machines, drills, dies, and hammers. The procedures involved filing sides of a metal piece smooth and square, marking lines with a scriber, drilling holes, and performing internal and external threading on holes and cylinders to create a fitted final product.

Fitting Workshop Practice

Muhammad Bilal Mobeen Group Number 3 BSEE 2010-2014 3rd Semester

Submitted To:

Department of Electrical Engineering

ABSTRACT:
The purpose of this workshop was to understand the working procedure being done on metals using different mechanical techniques. These mechanical techniques consist of filling, drilling, cutting, threading and finishing of metal piece.

Tools Required:
Files Try square Bench vice Chalk Punches Scriber Drilling Machine Drills Dies and Dies Holders Hammers Cutting Saw

PROCEDURE:
Place the given irregular shaped metallic piece between the jaws of Bench Vice .By the help of given file make all the four sides perfectly smooth and at 90 degree to each other. Use Try square for this purpose. Rub/Clean the top and bottom side of the metallic piece using the same. Now rub the wet chalk on one of the flattened side of the metallic piece. By using Scriber mark the lines on the metallic piece so that cutting may become easier. Use punches to mark spots on the lines to simplify our task. Then make holes at the center of plate using a drill machine. Then perform internal and external threading. External threading on the given cylindrical job and internal threading in the drilled holes. Then the cylindrical job was fit up in hole of metal plate.
