Lab3 Remote Sensing

The document discusses the process of geometric correction or rectification of remote sensing imagery to conform to a map projection system by assigning map coordinates, also known as georeferencing. It provides details on using Erdas Imagine software to georeference an image of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia using ground control points, including showing the image before and after correction and providing metrics on accuracy. Suggestions for improving the geometric correction are requested.

Introduction : Geometric correction or Rectification is the process of projecting the data onto a plane and making it conform to a map

projection system. Assigning map coordinates to the image data is called georeferencing. Since all map projection systems are associated with map coordinates, rectification involves georeferencing. Objective : Data used : Pkl150700

Area study : Kuala Lumpur

Procedure : 1) Open Erdas Imagine. Result and Analysis :

- Snapshot of image of the Ground Control Points(GCPs) distribution - Table for GCPs collection which include the rms error - Image before and after geometric correction using 3 types of resampling - Comment on the results obtained - Suggestion to improve your results if any
