Abstract

This study aimed to determine the stressors and coping styles of 337 junior and senior nursing students from a university in the 2013-2014 academic year. The independent variables considered were sex, family income, health habits, and year level. The results revealed that the top stressors nursing students experienced were clinical activities under close supervision of instructors, not having enough sleep, too many course requirements, and inadequate school facilities. Male students experienced more interpersonal stressors while females experienced more intrapersonal stressors. Students from high and average income families experienced more intrapersonal stressors while those from low income families reported more academic stressors.
