Conditional Formatting

Conditional formatting allows cells to display in different colors depending on their values. For example, a range can be formatted so that cells with a value of 1 appear red, 2 appear amber, and 3 appear green. To set this up, select the range, choose conditional formatting, select "cell value is equal to" and the value (like 1), choose the color (like red), and repeat for each value until all options are added. Then the cells will automatically update their colors based on the numbers entered.

Conditional Formatting Conditional Formatting (CF) is a tool that allows you to apply formats to a cell or range of cells, and

have that formatting change depending on the value of the cell or the value of a formula. In our case 1=red, 2=amber, 3=green. Here is an example Select the cells you want to format, then select, Format, Conditional Formatting. You will then see the tool below. Make sure you select: Cell Value Is.Equal to1 in the drop down menus

Then click Format, Patterns and select the colour you want, in this case, red. Click OK and you should end up with the box below displayed.

Now click Add>> and repeat the process until you have formatted 1, 2 &3 to the appropriate colours, then click OK. Now when you enter 1,2 or 3 in to the formatted cells they should automatically change to the correct colour.
