Welcome!
If this is your first time worshiping with us, we welcome you. As a church we are committed to love Jesus Christ and to share His love. We offer three services: 8:30 and 11 a.m. are traditional, and 9:45 a.m. is contemporary. Our ushers and greeters are here to serve you. Please ask them for any help you may need. ~ Our Holy Grounds Caf is a place for light refreshments, coffee, and fellowship from 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. in our Fellowship Hall. ~ Our Infant and Toddler Nurseries are available every Sunday from 8 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. They are located on the lower level of the church and are staffed with our full-time, professional attendants and parent volunteers. ~ Children's Church for ages four through third grade is offered at the 11 a.m. service and is guided by a parent volunteer. Children will be dismissed after the Children's Message. Please pick up your children from the lower level classrooms of the church following worship. Our Weekly News is a snapshot of activities in our church and community. The Weekly News is also posted on our website: www.esumc.net. Please make your submissions to the church office before 10 a.m. on Tuesdays. Submissions can be emailed to [email protected] or brought to the church office.

During this Thanksgiving season people of all ages will offer a variety of instrumental and vocal gifts in choirs, solos, and ensembles as deeds of service and love. The Hymn used as prelude this morning rejoices that God's peace is Like a River Glorious" as we trust Him, the choral text urges us to "dip into the well" for Jesus the Living Water, and the solo reminds us that blessings are often "disguised as raindrops." Information and Events


Our Annual Church Conference is Wednesday, November 9 at 7 p.m. in the Youth Room. This is our annual business meeting led by our District Superintendent. The meeting is open to all, however only full members are able to vote. Weekly Adult Recreational Basketball meets Monday at 8 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. For information call John at 426-7574. Our 55+ Group is heading out to a Thanksgiving Dinner at the Monroe County Technical School in Bartonsville on Monday, November 14. Deadline for reservations is tomorrow, November 7. Make yours by calling Erma at 421-1422. The cost is $6 per person. Calling All Single Young Adults to a Mexican dinner Wednesday, November 16 at 6 p.m. at the Moyers house! RSVP by texting Faith at 570242-6405 or Pastor Ed at 570-460-5958. Come join the group for fun and fellowship. SWAT, (Seasoned Workers Action Team) meets the 4th Tuesday of every month (November 22) at 9 a.m. in Bruce Johnsons office for coffee and donuts, then work until around noon. Men and women, all are invited for this three hours of service to beautify our church. We do things like painting, cleaning, minor repairing, etc. Give it a try, the blessing will be yours. Stine Class Collecting Used Cell Phones for Soldiers Project - Place your unwanted phones in the red box in Fellowship Hall any Sunday or in the Church Office. Questions, call Eileen at 420-8165. Breakfast with Santa Outreach - Saturday, December 17 from 9 a.m. until Noon. Janice Peters is looking for those interested in participating in any of these areas: kitchen staff, childrens crafts, donation of baked goods, story readers, cooks, servers, set-up/break-down. CiCis All-You-Can-Eat Pizza Fundraiser is Monday, November 7 from 11 a.m. - 10 p.m at the East Stroudsburg location. Our youth will receive 10% of your purchase with every postcard we turn in. Postcards are available in Holy Grounds Caf or from any youth. Adult Mission Trip - Wayne Mertz will be leading a trip in April of 2012 to one of three places: North Alabama (to help out after last spring's tornado outbreak.); South Carolina or Western New England (to help out after the fall flooding.) Mark Oney will be leading a trip from January 8-14, 2012 along with students from East Stroudsburg University. They are going to the village of Swan Quarter in North Carolina to help clean up from hurricane Irene and the spring tornados. So, we are looking for donations of unwanted tools, that are in good working condition. Homeless Simulation, Pocono Alliance & Monroe County Grants Office will be hosting a free poverty simulation Saturday, November 12 from 8:30 a.m. until noon at Stroudsburg Wesleyan Church, 915 N. 5th St., Stroudsburg. It is a great opportunity for us to better understand the challenges of those living in poverty and how we can better minister to their needs. Call Pastor Amy at Faith UMC with questions, 424-0172.

Mission and Outreach Want a New Look for the Holiday? Walk across the street to Natural Concepts today for a Family Promise cut-a-thon from noon to 4 p.m.
Special prices ($15 for women, $10 for men, $8 for children) with all proceeds being donated to Family Promise! If you don't need a haircut, stop in for other opportunities to support this mission outreach.

Our Homebound and Care Facility Members are always happy to be remembered by the church family. Encouraging cards or notes can be sent to: Emma Jean Martz, 123 Pearl St. East Stroudsburg, PA 18301. Wellness Ministry Tip for Losing Weight: Switch to ordinary coffee. Fancy coffee drinks pack several hundred calories, thanks to whole milk, whipped cream, sugar, and sugary syrups. A cup of regular coffee with skim milk has just a fraction of the calories. When brewed with good beans, it tastes just as great! Rather, serve one another in love. Galatians 5:13b What happens when you ask for help from a Stephen Minister? A Stephen Leader will contact you to talk more about Stephen Ministry and what it can mean to you. If your needs can be best served by a Stephen Minister, you will be matched with someone who will support you through this tough time. Confidentiality is a top priority for Stephen Ministers. You do not need to be concerned that other people will discover what you talk about with your Stephen Minister. If you or someone you know is in need of a Stephen Minister, you may contact Peggy Strack at the church office at 421-3280. Ready to Quit Smoking? Blood Pressure Screening is Sunday, November 20. Stop by the table in Fellowship Hall after each service to have your blood pressure checked, speak with a nurse, and pick up free literature from the American Heart Association. Childrens Ministries - Birth - 6th Grades "Tuesday Kids" our elementary school outreach ministry is scheduled for Tuesday, November 29 for a family potluck and "Let Your Talent Show! Pizza will be provided; sign up for additional potluck items. Everyone is asked to bring a canned good or non-perishable item for our community food banks. Children's Choir is getting ready for the Christmas program on Sunday, December 18. It's not too late to join in! Extra singers and actors are welcome! We rehearse with the Childrens Choir every Sunday at 9 a.m. Scripts and listening CD's are available. Solo tryouts are Sunday, November 13. Singing not your thing? Narration parts are available.

Youth Ministries - 7th - 12th Grades

Sunday School is held in the Youth Room at 11 a.m. with classes for Jr. High and Sr. High students. Sunday Night Youth Program for Jr. & Sr. High students is from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. here at the church. We meet for games, hangout time, praise and worship, a message, and small group discussion time. Weekly Thursday Programs: JAM (Jesus & Me) our after-school program along with Fellowship Meal, and Small Group Bible Studies, meet during the school year. The schedule is as follows: 2:45 - 5:00 p.m. JAM (Jr. High Outreach: 6th - 8th grades) 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. Fellowship Meal (6th - 12th grades) 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. Small Group Bible Studies (7th - 12th grades) CiCis All-You-Can-Eat Pizza Fund-raiser tomorrow from 11 a.m. 10 p.m at the East Stroudsburg location. Bring a fund-raiser postcard with you and youth missions will receive 10% of your purchase. Dodgeball Tournament is Friday, December 2 from 7-10 p.m. at our church. Five person teams will compete in double elimination format. You can bring your own team or show up and we will place you on a team. $10 per person will get you guaranteed two games, pizza and drinks. Bring your friends, all ages are welcome. All money benefits youth ministry missions. Drivers Needed for our after-school programs. You must be 25 years or older to drive the church vans to local schools on either Wednesday or Thursday around 2:30 p.m. Contact Scott if you can help. Youth Praise Band leads worship once a month and weekly during our Sunday night program. Anyone interested in singing or playing an instrument, contact Scott.
