Edward Nelson

Edward Nelson was born on May 4, 1932 in Decatur, Georgia. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 1953 and 1955 respectively. Nelson held positions at Princeton University from 1956-1973, rising from Assistant Professor to Professor. He has received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to mathematics including election to the National Academy of Sciences and American Academy of Arts and Sciences as well as the American Mathematical Society's Steele Prize.
