Consumer Protection Methods

Consumers are exploited through exorbitant prices, deceptive pricing, false advertising, substandard products, artificial scarcity, and forcing unwanted purchases. Consumer protection laws address these issues through legal protections like the Agricultural Products Grading and Marketing Act, Industrial Development and Regulation Act, Prevention of Food Adulteration Act, Standards of Weights and Measures Act, Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices Act, and the Consumer Protection Act of 1986. Additional initiatives include national awards, publicity measures, and customer service departments established by organizations like the Reserve Bank of India.
