Some of these popular brands are Lay's, Doritos, Tostitos, Cheetos, Fritos, SunChips, Gamesa, Grandma's, Munchies, Miss Vickie's, Munchos, Nut Harvest, Quaker, Rold Gold, Ruffles and Sabritones. The company manufactures and distributes premium brands. The company's product portfolio consists of products like Lay's potato chips, Doritos tortilla chips, Tostitos tortilla chips, Cheetos cheese flavored snacks, branded dips, Fritos corn chips, Ruffles potato chips, Quaker chewy granola bars, SunChips multigrain snacks, Rold Gold pretzels, Santitas tortilla chips, Grandma's cookies, Frito-Lay nuts, Munchies snack mix, Gamesa cookies, Funyuns onion flavored rings, Quaker Quakes corn and rice snacks, Miss Vickie's potato chips, Stacy's pita chips, Smartfood popcorn, Chester's fries, branded crackers and flat earth crisps. A strong brand portfolio along with a wide product mix helps to create high brand recall and enhances the company's market penetration opportunities. New product development Frito-Lay has a history of coming out with new and innovative products to suit the changing tastes and preferences of its customers. In 2008, Frito-Lay launched two new snacks - Lay's Cracker Crisps and Cheetos Crackers. In the following month, the company launched Pinch of Salt, a low-sodium version of some of its brands - Lay's potato chips, Tostitos tortilla chips, Fritos corn chips and Ruffles potato chips.
In addition in FY2009, Frito-Lay added a new flavor, Peanut Butter Apple, to its Smartfood popcorn clusters line. The company's TrueNorth brand introduced two new unique holiday flavors: Almond Cranberry Vanilla and Almond Cranberry Vanilla in White Chocolate. In April 2010, the company's Cheetos brand unveiled a tiny new snack called Cheetos Mighty Zingers. In June 2010, Frito-Lay introduced two new Lightly Salted varieties of chips: Fritos Lightly Salted corn chips and Ruffles Lightly Salted potato chips. Frito-Lay's brand-creation and product development leadership is driven by the company's enormous research and development capacity. The regular launch of new products strengthens the company's product portfolio and allows the company to increase its customer base.
