KL3193 Assignment03

This document provides instructions for an assignment to interface an 8-bit DIP input switch and two 7-segment LED displays with a microprocessor unit. The student must design a circuit using components like encoders, latches and buffers to obtain input from the DIP switch and display two different numbers sequentially on the LEDs. The student also needs to write assembly language instructions with comments, a flow chart, and submit handwritten work by October 5th.

KL3193 Assignment: Interfacing I/O devices

You need to interface an 8-bit DIP input switch and two 7-segment LED output displays
with your MPU.

Design the interfacing circuit using peripherals such as an encoder, latches, buffer and
gates. Do not use any type of multipurpose programmable interfacing devices. Illustrate
your design.

Your design must obtain the input from the single DIP switch to display two different
numbers on the two 7-segment LEDs, one after the other.

Write the full instructions (Assembly Language) with the example of displaying the last 2
digits of your student ID number. Include comments and explain your program. Draw the
flow chart as well.

Make sure that your design is unique.

Hint: - For first time operation, have your MPU to continuously read the input until a
switch is closed.

Your work must be handwritten and be submitted to my office on Friday the 5th
Oct the latest.
