INT - THE TARDIS EVENING

The Doctor marches into the Tardis shortly followed by Rose. She is obviously upset. The Doctor makes himself uncharacteristically busy - even for him. ROSE: (Angrily) She's my Mother. You can't just expect me to leave her like this. THE DOCTOR: (Mutters) That's always the problem with the human race, you don't know how to let go. ROSE: What did you just say? THE DOCTOR: (Turns to face Rose) If you go back how long will it be for? A few days? Weeks? Years? Rose doesn't answer. THE DOCTOR: (Softly) You can't protect her forever, Rose. One day she's not going to be around. And try as you may you will not be able to save her...Believe me, I know. ROSE: (Hopelessly) She's my Mum... THE DOCTOR: (Firmly) We need to go.
