Sub: Sir, The undersigned is directed to refer to various instructions issued from time to time by BSNL C.O. regarding expenditure management and guidelines for LTC. In view of the references received in this office in regard to the difficulties in determining the" Cheapest Economy fare,? it is clarified that officers and / or their families entitled to travel by Air on LTC may choose to travel on LTC by any airline provided that the fare does not exceed the fares offered from time to time by NACIL (Air India) under their LTC 80 scheme for sectors covered under the scheme, details of which are available on the website: http://www.indianairlines.in/scripts/leavetravelconcession.aspx. The fares under the scheme applicable for various sectors from 04-Dec-2008 communicated by Min. of Finance and in force as on date are as per annexure-I. For sectors not covered by the LTC 80 scheme of NACIL, the officers should ensure that cheapest economy tickets are purchased by either booking through internet / airlines directly / authorized travel agents. 2. For officers and / or their families not entitled to travel by air, the fares will be restricted to the entitled class of rail fare or the fare by NACIL (Air India) under their LTC 80 scheme or the fare of the airlines by which they actually traveled, whichever is the lowest. 3. It may also be certified by each Officer, both entitled and non entitled, while submitting his / her LTC claim that no other benefit, other than air travel, has been availed of as a part of any package offered by any airlines. 4.
