Statics – Exercise No.

6.51 Determine the force in member BD and the components of the reaction at C.
Answer: FBD = 375 N (C) ; Cx = 205 N ; Cy = 360 N

6.89 The frame shown consists of members AD and EH, which are connected by two
links. Determine the force in each link for the given loading.
Answer: FDG = 6 KN (T); FCF = 9 KN (C); Ax = 1.8 KN ; Ay = 2.4 KN
Ex = 1.8 KN ; Ey = 3.2 KN

6.92 A vertical load P of magnitude 750 N is applied to member ABC. Members ABC
and DEF are parallel and are placed between two frictionless walls and connected by
the link BE. Knowing that a = 0.75 m, determine the reactions at points A, C, D, and F.
Answer: C = 375 N ; A = 1875 N ; Dy = 750 N ; Dx = 1500 N
F = 3000 N
6.104 A 3600-kg steel ingot is lifted by lifted by a pair of tongs as shown. Determine the
forces exerted at C and E on tong BCE.
Answer: C = 20.5 KN ; E = 27.1 KN 40.70

7.5 A 4.5-kg uniform rod ABCDE has been bent and is held by a wire sling as shown.
Determine the internal forces (a) at point C, (b) just to right of point B, (c) using the
obtained results draw the free body diagrams with numerical values of forces and
moments for the elements AB, BC, BDE.
Answer: (a) FC = 55.18 N ; MC = 12.57 Nm (b) FB = 55.2 N ; MC = 11.04 Nm
