Justify the statement: All sensors are transducers but all transducers are not sensors. 2. Discuss the selection criteria of transducer on the basis of types and their characteristic. 3. Discuss the working principle and loading effect in the Potentiometer device. A linear resistance potentiometer is 50 mm long and is uniformly wound with a wire having resistance of 10,000 ohm. Under normal condition, the slider is at the center of the potentiometer. Find the linear displacement when the resistance of the potentiometer measured by a wheatstone bridge for two cases is :- (i) 3850 ohm (ii) 7560 ohm. If it is possible to measure minimum value of 10 ohm resistance, find the resolution of potentiometer in use. 4. Discuss the working principle of strain gauge and prove the expression for Gauge factor. 5. Discuss the compensation circuit for thermocouple. A platinum thermometer has a resistance of 100 ohm at 25 degree C. (a) Find its resistance at 65 degree C if the platinum has a resistance temperature coefficient of 0.00392/ degree C. (b) if the thermometer has a resistance of 150 ohm , calculate the temperature. 6. Describe the working principle of LVDT and briefly state the advantage and disadvantages of it. 7. Discuss the working of various types of Capacitive transducers. 8. Discuss the principle and application of Hall Effect transducer. 9. Discuss the working principle of Piezo Electric transducer and draw the expression for voltage sensitivity of crystal. 10. A barium titanate pickup has dimension of 5mm * 5mm * 1.25mm. the force acting on it is 5N. the charge sensitivity of barium titanate is 150 kN and its permittivity is 12.5 * 10-9 F/m. if the modulous of elasticity of barium titanate is 12* 106 N/m2. Calculate the stress. Also calculate the charge and its capacitance. 11. Discuss the loading effect and frequency response of piezoelectric transducer. 12. Describe the application of piezoelectric transducer. 13. Discuss the working of thermistor and its various characteristics. 14. Describe the working principle of RVDT.
