Crawler mechanism has body mounted on spaced apart track assemblies by axles. Track assemblies are driven by hydraulic motors which are movable relative to the body with an associated track assembly. Crawler mechanism can be used with ditch diggers, cranes or other excavating machines. The spacing of the track assemblies must be limited to enable the crawler mechanism to be readily transported between job sites.
