Structure of the Psalter & the Seams of the Garment of Praise
Mirroring the Pentateuch (the ve books of Moses), the Psalter is divided into ve books. These ve divisions, which are moving us along a continuum from Lament to Praise/Trust, are stitched together by praise (see below). The organization of the Psalms has a pedagogy tracing for us how Gods people coped with the loss of the Davidic kingship and were invited to trust in the God of Israel as their True King. The wisdom imparted is incredibly relevant for us today as we await our King and the nal consummation of His Kingdom.
