Writing assignment
Topic : School children are becoming far too dependent on computers. This is having
an alarming effect on reading and writing skills. Teachers need to avoid using computers in the classroom at all costs and go back to teaching basic study skills. Do you agree or disagree?

My writing:
(Word count : 286, including a, an and the) Recent advances in the information technology have led to computers being widely used all over the world. However, it is believed that students now rely on them so much that their fundamental skills are badly affected. Hence, there arises an open question whether teachers should abolish computers at school and go back to teach these skill or not. It can be denied that abusing computers causes a lot of trouble in the classroom. There happens to be various language-aiding and word-processing programs which do much for childrens reading and writing. As a consequence, these basic but essential skills may as well be ignored and, thus, poorly developed. Turning to teach primary skills, teachers and school children may benefit a lot as the society always requires people to communicate with each other, through which the ability to read, speak, listen and write is crucial. Nevertheless, the above drawbacks only occurs when depending too much on computers. Using computer with a reasonable schedule will not affect the study of the primary skills at all. With the assistance of the Internet, a better learning progress is even guaranteed. Furthermore, there are also a variety of useful software that can be advantageous in studying basic skills. Thus, there is no need for tutors to stop the use of computers. Last but not least, the source of entertainment computers provides us creates an enjoyable atmosphere during the classes, motivating student to study more efficiently. To sum up, I personally think that teachers are supposed not to avoid using computers in the classrooms because of its advantages in learning. In stead, a combination of two methods of teaching, traditional one and one with computers, would do both teachers and students best!
