Method Statement Formwork Setup and Concrete Casting v1.0

The procedure for setting up formwork and concrete casting for manholes is described as follows: 1) OSB boards at least 3cm thick will be used for the formwork along with 30x40mm stiffeners fixed with screws or nails. 2) The formwork will be prepared based on plans and impregnated to prevent water infiltration and concrete sticking. 3) The formwork will be assembled locally then placed and fixed in a dug hole. 4) Reinforcements will be inserted as specified and PVC pipes fixed in predefined positions for pipe entrance and exit. 5) Concrete will be cast to fully surround the PVC pipes and harden for at least 24 hours before dismantling

Topic: manhole form-work set up and concrete casting

The procedure of setting out of the form-work for manholes is detailed as follows: Form-work will be set out of OSB boards having at least 3cm thickness. In order to overcome boards deformation during concrete casting, 30x40mm stiffeners will be used. Those hardening will be fixed to the OSB boards with screws or construction nails. The boards will be prepared based on the form-work plans, and they will be impregnated (oil, etc.), stopping by this water infiltration, as well as avoiding sticking of the concrete to the board. Based on the external size of the form-work, there will dig the place of it in the ground. Form-work will be assembled locally, with screws and construction nails, then it will be placed and fixed to it's final position in the hole. The distance between internal and external wall of the form-work will be measured, and fixed to the values specified in the form-work plan with use of stiffeners stabilized in the basement of the manhole. Then 6/10 cm constructive reinforcements will be introduced into the form-work, as specified on the schematics In order to manage a tight lead-in of the PVC pipes into the manhole, there will be fixed 4 PVC pipes in the form-work at predefined positions, both for entrance and exit of the pipes When casing of the concrete, this will completely embrace the PVC pipes set up through the form-work. So PVC pipes laid in the ditch will then directly connect to the pipes which communicate through the manhole's concrete wall. Form-work will be fixed to the ground and there can proceed with casting of concrete (C8/10), so that reinforcement should be covered at 5cm. Form-work will be kept untouched at least 24 hours, providing enough time for the concrete to get to it's initial hardening. Then form-work is dismounted, and there can be proceeded with the casting of the manhole's floor. After consolidation of the concrete, it continues with mounting of the lid of the manhole The lid of the manhole stands of a cast concrete board with adequate reinforcement, which incorporates a cast iron frame and lid. When mounting the lid on it's final place, on the edge of the manhole there will be applied a uniform concrete layer, by which the lid to the manhole will bind. When mounting the lid, the 0 reference level should also be considered.
