Letc 12 Missing Views

The document discusses missing lines and views in engineering drawings. Missing lines refer to lines that are intentionally omitted from orthographic views to incomplete the drawing but need to be added. Missing views occur when not all necessary views of an object are shown. However, with two views the shape of a simple object can often be understood and the third missing view can be drawn. Having multiple orthographic projections helps convey the true shape and size of an object.

Missing Lines
The lines are located and added in the orthographic views which are otherwise missed intentionally, in order to complete the view or views. The lines missed to complete the drawing of an object are called missing lines.

Missing Views
The true and correct shape and size of an object can be rightly understood by drawing multi-view orthographic projections. In general practice, three views are sufficient to clear the shape of an object. Incase of simple objects, two views are enough and the third view (which is otherwise missing) can be understood and directly drawn along with the given orthographic views
