Multicast Support in MPLS-TP

This document discusses multicasting using H-VPLS and MPLS. It describes how multicast streams are replicated at each TN725 and TN705 switch with only one copy using bandwidth. It also discusses protection from fiber cuts, node failures, and source failures by switching to a secondary path within 50ms or seconds. Multicast traffic is routed from the source through PWs and LSPs to each switch where IGMP proxy and snooping support multicast applications.

Multicast Traffic

Multicast protection
(1) Fiber cut/path failure The PW/LSP protection will active when fiber cut or path failure are detected. The switch time will be less than 50ms. (2) Node Failure Each TN705/725 will receive multicast traffic both from primary path and secondly path. If they can not receive the traffic from primary path (direction), it will (direction) switch to secondly path (direction). The switch time will be seconds.
(2) A B (1) (3)

Multicast source

( ) (3) Source Failure The VRRP is running between two multicast sources (A) and (B). The center site TN705/725s primary and secondly multicast traffic get from both source (A) and source (B). The traffic will get from (B) instead of source (A) after multicast sources are switched. The rest TN705/725 will not switch. The switch time will be seconds. seconds (VRRP)
