Final Conversion Table and Notes

Meter is length, kilogram is mass, cubic meter is volume, second is time. The Kelvin scale of temperature is used in science, but the Celsius scale is widely accepted. 68oF is the same as 20oC, because Musical Notes around middle C (C4 at 261. Hz) first arose after a series of Musical Notes were played.

Unit Conversion Table

SI system of units of measurement: Le Systeme International d’Unites was adopted in 1960 to

establish agreement regarding the use of units in the scientific work of the international
community:
The meter is used for length
The kilogram is used for mass
The square meter is used for area
The cubic meter is used for volume (or, commonly, the liter, 1,000 l = 1 m³)
The second is used for time
The Kelvin scale of temperature is used in science, but the Celsius scale is widely
accepted for purposes such as ours.

Metric measurements: 1 meter (m) = 100 centimeters (cm) = 1000 millimeters (mm)

Length Conversion Factors

To convert from To multiply by
mile (mi) kilometer (km) 1.609
inch (in) millimeter (mm) 25.40
inch (in) centimeter (cm) 2.540 → 5 in = 12.7 cm, because 5 (2.54)
= 12.7
inch (in) meter (m) 0.0254
foot (ft) meter (m) 0.3048
yard (yd) meter (m) 0.9144

Area Conversion Factors

To convert from to multiply by
square foot (sq ft) square meter (sq m) 0.0929
square inch (sq in) square meter (sq m) 0.0006
square yard (sq yd) square meter (sq m) 0.8361

Volume Conversion Factors

To convert from to multiply by
cubic inch (cu in) cubic meter (cu m) 0.00001639
cubic foot (cu ft) cubic meter (cu m) 0.0283
cubic yard (cu yd) cubic meter (cu m) 0.7646
fluid ounce (fl oz) milliliter (ml) 29.5735 → 15 fl oz = 444 ml, because
cubic centimeter (cu cm) milliliter (ml) 1.0 15 (29.57) ≈ 444

Temperature conversion

To go from degrees Fahrenheit (F) to degrees Celsius (C) use this equation:
tC = (tF - 32) / 1.8 or tC = (tF - 32) 5/9 tF = degrees Fahrenheit
Example: 68ºF is the same as 20ºC, because 20 = (68 - 32) / 1.8
