INTRODUCTION

• The task of data collection begins after a research

problem has been defined and research design /plan
checked out.
• Meaning of data:
data is nothing but collection of information from
different sources by collecting of this we use two
methods are there.
• Classification of data:
1. primary data
2. Secondary data
• methods of collecting primary data:
 observation method:
The observation method is the commonly used
method specially in studies relating to behavioral
sciences under this the investigator directly
observed from the respondents.
• Interview method:
 Personal interview:
In this the interviewer directly asking questions to the
interviewee in a face to face contact.

 Telephone interview:
This method of collecting information consists in
contacting respondents on telephone itself.

• Questionnaires:
This method of data collection is quite popular than
other methods in this method the concerned person
answer the questions and return the questionnaire.
• Schedules:
This method of data collection is very much like the
collection of data through questionnaire in this the
answers of the respondents are recorded in the
concern space.
• Precautions for collecting data
 Nature scope and object of enquiry:
It tells the type of enquiry of the data
 Availability of funds:
The funds are limited so we have to select cheaper
method.
 Time factor:
The availability of time is very less so we have to
consider the time factor also.
