HOW TO: Read carriage returns as part of the data in a flat file source using a PowerCenter
session

Problem Description

A PowerC enter session with a flat file source that contains carriage returns in one of its columns reads each line in the column as a new row.
Is there a way to read carriage returns as part of the data in a flat file source?

Cause

Solution

To read carriage returns as part of the data in a flat file source add the MatchQuotesPastEndOfLine Integration Service custom property and set the
value to "Yes".

Note:

MatchQuotesPastEndOfLine only works with flat files that are set to ASC II based codepages.

More Information

If source data is in a delimited flat file using quotes, the data may include carriage returns. By default, the Integration Service reads the carriage
return as a new row whether or not there is an end quote.
When MatchQuotesPastEndOfLine is set to "Yes" the Integration Service reads the carriage return as part of the data, not as a new row and
continues reading until it encounters a quote and a carriage return.

Effective in PowerC enter 8.6.1 this can be used in Unicode mode (but source must be ASC II).
In prior versions Unicode is not supported.
