Statement:
With Glenn being one of many ex-students we’re very proud of, we were delighted when he
agreed to return to The Duston School to talk to our Post 16 cohort as part of their PSCHE
scheme of work. The talk formed part of a series of talks, all given by ex-students wherever
possible, that focused on the different options open upon leaving school. We like to cover a
range of different approaches and Glenn brought a positive approach to deferring university
entry while considering other options.
Glenn gave two talks, firstly to approx. 120 Y12 students, and secondly to approx. 80 Y13
students. On the day, Glenn had a good rapport with the students, involving them with an
interactive starter activity to his talk. They responded very well and could clearly relate to the
way Glenn communicated his career and life path since leaving The Duston School.
It was very useful for the students to see there are alternative routes to gaining desired
qualifications, and different means of getting there. Glenn communicated this very well, while
also reiterating the crucial message that one has to be willing to take opportunities to do so,
and not let moments pass by.
We would be very happy to have Glenn back for similar talks in future years.
