A- = 90 – 92 C- = 70 – 72 2. General Certificate of Education (GCE)
B+ = 87 – 89 D+ = 67 – 69 a. Advance Level (“A”)
B = 83 – 86 D = 65 – 66 b. Advanced Subsidiary Level (“AS”)
B- = 80 – 82 E = 60 – 64 c. Ordinary Level (“O”)
N.B.: 1. F = Form; G = Grade
2. School Year: 190 days, that is 3 terms of approx. 13 weeks each. One Class Period =
35 minutes.
3. Students graduate at the end of Form 5/Grade 11, after external examinations
(CSEC/GCE).
4. Form 6 is by merit and selection; it is equivalent to pre-university, or an “honours”
programme. Up
to 2002 the G.C.E. exams were done at the end of the two-year programme. Since 2001 the CAPE
exams are done at the end of each of the two years. General Paper is compulsory; the grades are
equivalent to Form 5 grades.
