Voz Passiva

The passive voice in English is formed in the same way as in Portuguese, using the auxiliary verb "to be" and the past participle of the main verb. The verb "to be" is used in the same tense and mood as the main verb in the active voice, and only the past participle of the main verb is used. In the passive voice, the subject of the active voice becomes the agent and the direct object becomes the subject.

A voz passiva em inglês forma-se exactamente como em português, ou seja, com o

auxiliar to be (ser) e o particípio passado do verbo principal.

ACTIVA: Rita writes a letter. (Simple Present)

PASSIVA: A letter is written by Rita.

1. O verbo to be usa-se no mesmo tempo e modo em que estava o verbo principal na

voz activa;

2. Do verbo principal, usa-se apenas o particípio passado;

3. O sujeito da voz activa passa para agente da passiva;

4. O complemento directo na voz activa passa para sujeito da passiva.
