Math 9 - Lesson 3 - Word Problem Review

Jack has to drive 758 km from Calgary to Regina. He is driving at 110 km/hour. The document asks to create a table showing the remaining km after periods of 1 to 5 hours of driving, write an equation relating the remaining distance (D) to time driven (t), and calculate how long Jack has been driving if he has 428 km remaining. It also provides a separate math problem about two numbers whose sum is 5, and asks to complete a table of values for the variable x from 5 to 10, write an equation relating the variables x and y, and determine the value of x when y is -5.

period of time. Use from 1 – 5 hours.
b) Write an equation that relates the km remaining, D, to the time, t, that
Jack has drove.
c) Jack has 428 km left to drive. How long has he been driving?

The sum of two numbers is 5. Let x and y represent the two numbers.
