This document describes a project to develop a database development software tool for Java-enabled mobile phones that allows users to dynamically create and manage databases on their device and backup data to a personal computer. The tool will facilitate creation of databases according to a user's needs and provide functionality to backup data from the mobile device to a PC. Problem Definition
• We need to develop a database (recordstore)
development software tool so that it can easily
create and manage the recordstores on any java
enabled mobile device that supports MIDP/CLDC
on J2ME platform.
• Software faciliates the user to dynamically create
databases according to his requirements at given
point of time.
• Software must also provide the functionality of
allowing the users to take backup of the data on
the mobile device to a personal computer.

• Since it is not possible to carry workstations the
mobiles can become useful device to gather
information on site.
• They can be used to gather information in small
surveys.
• Salesman can record the daily sales and customer
information using database that he can dynamically
create when required on his cell phone.
• The backup that is taken can be stored in database
server and can be used for integrating the data from
various sources.
