Leonard Chiazze Jr. is a 38-year resident of the White Flint Park neighborhood who is writing to express his disappointment that the staff report for the White Flint Sector Plan did not address compatibility with existing neighborhoods. He urges the Planning Board chairman to ensure "compatibility with existing neighborhoods" is a priority in the plan. The president of the local citizens' association had also written to Margaret Rifkin requesting a section be added on compatibility concerns. Chiazze is worried that without considering compatibility, the plan could seriously harm his community. He strongly urges the chairman to prevent that from happening.

Dr. Royce Hanson, Chairman

Montgomery County Planning Board
8787 Georgia Avenue
Silver Spring, Maryland 20910

Dear Dr. Hanson

I am writing regarding planning for the White Flint Development. I am a resident of

White Flint Park (now for some 38 years) and 6 years prior to that in the Garrett Park
Estates. I know that you have been made aware of the many concerns of the residents of
our community through communications to the Board (both written and oral) by the
Garrett Park Estates-White Flint Park Citizens' Association during the planning process. I
am writing to expressone of many concerns.

This community has been our family home throughout my careeras a Professor at the
Georgetown University School of Medicine. While we have had many opportunities to
move from this community (local as well as national), the unique nature of the Garrett
Park-White Flint community has been a deciding factor in my family's decision to
remain in the neighborhood. It has been and continues to be a great place to live and
raise a family. Now we face a very serious threat to our community.

The point of this all too lengthy introduction is to express my extreme disappointment
that the staff report did not include any language addressingthe White Flint SectorPlan's
compatibility with existing neighborhoods. I would urge you to be certainthat,
"compatibility with existing neighborhoods" be a priority in the Plan. Jay Hanse~,
President of our Citizen's Association, has written to Margaret Rifkin urging
consideration that "compatibility with existing neighborhoods" be added as a 5thdiscrete
section in the staff report citing details of our t.oncems. Without addressingthe
compatibility with existing neighborhoods iss1Jle, the plan could deliver an extremely
serious blow to our community. I strongly urge you to prevent that from happening.
Thank you for your attention.

With Best Regards,

Leonard Chiazze, Jr., SC.D.
