Active Engine Mounting System

An active engine mounting system is used to isolate vehicle body vibrations caused by unbalanced mass rotation in the crankshaft. There are three types of engine mounting systems - rubber, hydraulic, and active which is still in research. The document outlines the technology roadmap from rubber and hydraulic mounts to variable decoupler openings and magneto-rheological mounts developed in a lab. It also discusses modeling engine vibrations as a single and three degree of freedom system and deriving the equations of motion and active control methods for these systems to reduce vibrations transferred to the vehicle body.
