    LOCATING ON A MAP :

    READING ACTIVITY

    READING TASK : Read the clues and fill in the NYC Map with the famous
    places mentioned below.

    Central Park is the biggest park in Manhattan.

    Broadway is the longest avenue in Manhattan, running the entire length of the island

    5th Avenue, New York’s most prestigious avenue, divides Manhattan between the west
    side and the east side.

    The Empire State Building, situated at the corner of 5th Avenue and W. 34th Street, is
    one of the best-known and most visited buildings in the world.

    The Metropolitan Museum of Art , built in Central Park, is one of the largest
    museums in the world. Its entrance is on 5th Avenue.

    Harlem, located in northern Manhattan, is home to the largest population of New


    York’s African American and Hispanic communities.

    Ellis Island is a small island to the south of Manhattan where immigrants landed before
    entering America.

    The Statue of Liberty is located on a tiny island, south of Ellis Island.
