A piping system transports fluids between units in a plant, beginning at one point like a feed tank and ending at another point like a storage tank. It uses inline components like valves, fittings, pumps, and gaskets to bring pipes together, modify flow direction, change pipe diameter, terminate pipes, prevent backflow, regulate flow, impede fluid flow, and throttle flow. Common inline components are valves, pumps, elbows, strainers, reducers, and flanges.

What is a Piping System
• A system that transports fluids between
the units of a plant.
• Piping systems usually begins from a
point in the process and ends at another point. eg feed tank and storage tank. INLINE COMPONENTS • Valves (shut off and control) • Fittings: elbows, strainers, reducer, weld • Pumps: Dynamic and Positive • Gaskets and Flanges INLINE COMPONENTS • FUNCTIONS: • Bring pipe together • Modify flow direction • Change the diameter of the pipe • Terminate the pipe Valves • FUNCTIONS: • Prevent backflow • To regulates flow • Impede the flow of fluid through the pipe • Throttle flow Valves • Types of Valves • Ball Valves • Butterfly valve • Globe Valve Pumps • A device used to displace a volume of either by mechanical or physical action.
