The article Managing Stress at Work Place by Wan Hussein deals with what is meant
by stress how does it effects people and organization and how the stress can be managed.

Stress is a state of physiological imbalances in the body which has unpleasant

emotional and cognitive components. Employees cannot function effectively unless stress is
dealt with wisely and systematically. To the organization one of the employees off sick with
stress creates more problems. A strategic Wan Hussin 3-D Stress Management Model is
presented to make managing stress easily understandable which consists of 3 stages namely the
Unexpected stage, the Stress Projection Stage and the Expected Stage.

The Unexpected Stage is the stage where stresses are surveyed and information
gathered are booked in a stress diary or stress journaling which is act of writing about feelings of
stress as well as exploring potential solutions to these problems.

The second stage Stress Projection Types are the various stress tests and inventories
that could be used to determine the extent of the problem and these tests could vary due to
various circumstances like Office Stress MOT which has two parts namely Organization Survey
which deals with stress at work place and ask questions and based on the answers given by
employees at work place they rate at point 5 scale ranges from strongly disagree to strongly
agree and then conduct People Survey which covers only stressors at work and decides whether
workplace ‘pass’ or ‘fail’ the MOT.

Other tests that could be conducted are the Simple Stress Test, Stress Symptom Quiz,
Workplace Stress test etc,. The third stage is The Expected Stage in which the stress situations
and degree of its seriousness are identified by the mapping of the stress findings is formulated
based on a through understanding of the physical, physiological and occupational consequences.

There are various methods to master stress like setting clear and realistic goals,
improving communication skills with others, avoiding high blood pressure, quitting smoking,
doing exercise regularly, taking basic multiple vitamin and mineral supplements etc,. Can help
persons to avoid stress and work effectively.
