Assignment 3 Cryptography

Submit a hard copy of assignment on coming Thursday.

There are some difficulties in the Assignment 3 of cryptography, hence some changes in the
previous assignment are as follows:

The previous question in which there was “sherlock holmes” and


“DOUGLAS” “BRISTLONE”, has been discarded. No need to attempt
that question.

Attempt the remaining 3 question of previous assignment, in addition to


below mentioned.

More questions are:

1. Construct a playfair matrix with the key “largest”

2. Construct the playfair matrix with the key “occurence”. Make a reasonable assumption
about how to treat redundant letters in the key.

3. Using the playfair matrix

“Must see you over Cadogan west. Coming at once”.

4. Using the vigenere cipher, encrypt the word “explanation” using the key leg

Hint regarding decryption question that was full of


symbols and numbers:
You dont need to decrypt the message. Just need to tell/map what symbol is used
for what character?
After decryption, the plaintext is given below.
