Diuretics classification in order of

site of action Gout: major features
"COLT Pee:" GOUT:
· In their sequential site of action along the
nephron: Great toe
Carbonic anhydrase inhibitors (at the
proximal tubule) One joint (75% monoarticular)

Osmotic diuretics (at the Loop of Henle) Uric acid increased (hence urolithiasis)
Loop diuretics (at the ascending loop) Tophi
Thiazides (at the distal tubule)
Potassium-sparing diuretics (at the
collecting tubules)
· Diuretics make patient pee like a horse,
hence "Colt Pee".

Troponin I is thought to be a more specific marker of cardiac damage than
due to T. Cardiac troponin I begins to rise 2 to 6 hr after myocardial infarction
troponin
(MI). It has a biphasic peak: It initially peaks at 15 to 24 hr after MI and then
exhibits a lower peak after 60 to 80 hr. Cardiac troponin T levels rise 2 to 6 hr after
MI and remain elevated. Both proteins return to the reference range 7 days after
MI.
