    The Misfits: Anticipation Guide

    Part I

    Answer each question with AGREE or DISAGREE. Be prepared to give reasons for
    your answer.

    1. __________People who look tough are tough.

    2. __________It is important to be accepted by others.

    3. __________If someone picks on me, it is because they don’t like me.

    4. __________Sticks and stones will break my bones but names will never hurt me.

    5. __________In the United States everyone is given the same opportunities.

    6. __________In the United States, there is liberty and justice for all.

    7. __________Standing out from the crowd—bringing attention to yourself—can be


    a dangerous thing.

    8. __________In middle school there is a lot of pressure to fit in.

    9. __________Popular people have a perfect life.

    10. __________Everything you do matters.

    11. __________If a close friend or family member told me they were gay I would
    accept and support them.

    12. __________It is possible to accurately judge someone by the way they look.

    Part II

    Now that you have answered the following questions above, it is time to support your
    opinion. Choose three statements above. In at least one paragraph for each explain why
    you agree or disagree. Remember to use complete sentences and to indent each new
    paragraph.

    Be prepared to explain and support your opinions in class. Remember “I don’t know” or
    “Just because” are not acceptable answers.
