PROJECT OBJECTIVE:
Describe the concept. Provide a brief statement of the objective of the proposed project. The
objective should be clear, to the point, and provide a specific statement of what is to be
accomplished – including a measurable result - such that the reader will be able to judge when
the project has been successfully completed.
PROJECT BACKGROUND:
Provide a discussion of the published technical literature, and appropriate patents, that support
this proposal. Also include a description of the economic and technical constraints that frame the
project.
DELIVERABLES:
Briefly list the deliverables that you are proposing along with the delivery dates. Deliverables
should be stated as specific measurable outcomes that the reader would be able to use.
APPROACH:
Describe the proposed approach for the work, including the route(s) for overcoming technical
barriers. Provide an assessment of the risks associated with the project. Describe how the
proposed approach will minimize or address these risks. Provide a statement of
resource/competency required to successfully complete the project. Describe a prospective path
to commercialization.
SCHEDULE:
The project schedule should tabulate the major tasks (assigned pieces of work needed to
accomplish a certain goal) of the project for the duration of the project. The schedule should
indicate the approximate dates when each task is to begin and when each task is to be
completed and significant milestones reached. A milestone can be the end point of a task or a
point where decisions need to be made. It is anticipated that this schedule will be a living
document and may change over the course of the project.
