    Addition and subtraction of decimals is just the same as normal addition and subtraction. ALWAYS LINE UP THE DECIMAL POINT! e.g. 4. + 2. Line it up like a normal column addition sum with the decimal points lined up: 4. This leaves a gap after 2.1, so fill it 4. With a 0 (2. Is the same as 2.1)

    Adding and Subtracting Decimals

    Addition and subtraction of decimals is just the same as normal


    addition and subtraction. The only thing to remember is ALWAYS
    LINE UP THE DECIMAL POINT!
    E.g. 4.23 + 2.1

    Line it up like a normal column addition sum with the decimal points
    lined up:
    4.23 This leaves a gap after 2.1, so fill it 4.23
    + 2.1_ with a 0 (2.10 is the same as 2.1) + 2.10
