Session - 1: Your Picture Here

This document outlines a technical session on issues with interconnected distributed generation systems and utility networks. The session objectives are to understand current power system structures, power flow, and list technical issues that arise from connecting distributed generation to distribution networks. The session plan details timing, content, learning aids, faculty approaches, and student activities. Suggested learning outcomes and assignments are also provided.

Session Objectives
At the end of this session, the learner will be able to:

Understand the current power system structure and power flow

Understand and list
xxx
1. Draw the structure of existing power system considering generation, transmission,
distribution systems and customers as blocks and indicate the direction of power
flow between them.
2. Draw the change in power flow which may happen when a distributed
generation(DG) system introduced to distribution network
3. State resonance which may cause this power flow change
4. List out 5 important technical issues which arise due to connection of DG system
to distribution network.
5. Draw the single line diagram of distribution network with DG system.
6. Show with phasor diagram the relation between distribution network voltage and
load current
7. Derive the mathematical expression for voltage rise in distribution system with
generator.
8. Evaluate the impact of various parameters of the expression derived in question
no.7 on the voltage rise of distribution system.
9. List out the all possible steps to counter the voltage rise.
10. Evaluate the measures with respect to merit of their implementation.
