Enduring understanding: Simple machines allow you to do the same work more easily.

Essential question: How can simple machines make work easier?

In class we have discussed the six simple machines listed above. Click on the picture above to review the
various simple machines.

Option 1:

Your job is to log into your Glogster account and create a Glog that shows a picture example of each of
the simple machines and explains how that machine works, and how it can help you make your work
easier. You may use video, audio or typed text to present each of the machines. Make sure to cite your
online sources.

Option 2:

Create a PowerPoint presentation that identifies each of the simple machines shown above. Your
presentation should provide a photo or video of the machine in use, explain how it works and how it can
make your work easier. Make sure to cite your online sources.

Option 3:

Create a video showing an example of all six simple machines in use. In your video make sure you
identify what simple machine is in use each time and explain how the simple machine helped make your
work easier. You will need to find examples of each simple machine. If you bring items from home
make sure to check with parents first. (The clearances your parent filled out at the beginning of the year
must state that you are allowed to be videoed in order to choose this option. Check with your teacher
before proceeding.)

Option 4:

Create a website that provides an example of each of the simple machines shown above. Your website
should provide a photo or video of the machine, explain how it works, and how it can make your work
easier. This website will be used as a resource and be linked to our class website. You must have
previous experience with creating websites, and be able to provide your teacher with an example of your
work before choosing this option.

Option 5:
Create a poster, or display that provides an example of each of the simple machines. You can print out
pictures from the computer, cut them out of magazines, or draw them. You must explain in a short
paragraph on your poster how each machine works, and how it can make your work easier.
