Introduction

About the project:-

The online shopping is a web based application which is used for online
retailers . The main objective of this application is to make it interactive and
ease to use it. It will make searching, viewing , selection of products easier.
It contains sophisticated search engine for user’s to search the products of
their need’s . The user can view complete specification of products.

Objective :-

 It reduces the order placement time for consumers


 It reduces the cost of product for customer
 It reduces the production cost
 It enables the security and confidential concepts through online
activities

Purpose :-

The purpose of this project is to provide easy shopping facility online and
easy gselling facility to the merchants of all categories.

Scope :-

 The current system may provide the customers to create accounts and
save the products .

 The users can also subscribe for the price alerts which would enable
them to receive the messages when the prices of products is reduced.

 Users can have multiple shipping and billing information saved.

Existing systems and its problems:-

Actually, in traditional way of selling the product has


given many benefits to the retailer when compare to the customer, so here
we thought to solve this problem by making the selling of the products
through online. So that the customer may have benefits when compared to
the traditional process of selling the products.

System Interfaces:-

Interface :
The software provides good graphical interface for the front end of the
database and a good informative interface for the rear end

Hardware Interface :-

The system should have these hardware requirements :


 The processor should be at least Pentium 3 or above
 The processor speed should be greater than 400Mhz
 The video device should support graphics
 Ram should be or greater than 120 mb

Software Interfaces :-

The software requires the support of the following soft wares for the
database and other requirements
 Java(jdk 1.5 )
 Mysql for database
 Operating System(windows7/windows XP)

Functional Description:-

The software provides the following functionalities to the customers :


 Facilitates easy shopping online any where with free shipping
(conditions apply)
 Provides information about the products in categories
 Can reserve or order if the particular product is not available
 Customers are provided with up to date information on the products
available
 Provides email facility for future correspondence

The software provides the following facilities to the administrator :


 Facilitates easy bidding facility
 Provides complete information about the customers
 Provides complete information about their products
 Can avail the facility of email correspondence
 Can avail the brand catalog facility
 Provides on spot payment for the product at the time of delivery
 Can know the whereabouts of both the product and the customer who
opted his product
