Setup Alom

The document provides instructions for setting up the ALOM card on Sun servers to enable network console access. It describes the two communication ports on the ALOM hardware for management - a serial port and Ethernet port. It then lists commands to display current ALOM settings, set the IP address and subnet mask, reset the RSC card, and access the console via the network management port or redirect it from the serial port. It also notes how to reset the admin password if needed and that the network connection must be 10-Mbit for ALOM network access.

The ALOM hardware contains two types of communication ports:

- Serial management port (SERIAL MGT)

- Network management (Ethernet) port (NET MGT)

Both ports give you access to the ALOM command shell. By default, ALOM communicates
through the SERIAL MGT port at startup.
