YX140 Cam Removal

Working on a YX140 (GPX) motor. 1 of a few china engines out there but this tutorial will work for any other engine with the same sort of head. Note: you will need to set TDC 1st, please look at the other tutorials on how to do this.

Step 1

Note: you dont have to take the head off to change the cam; the picture is for example only Start by taking off the head plate, valve (tappet) covers, cam cover and oil cooler takeoff plate.

Step 2
Undo the 3 cam sprocket bolts, then take the cam out but without turning the cam chain (this is for if you have marked TDC)

Step 3
With the 2 screws (opposite each other) that came off the take off plate, screw these back into the hole dwells slightly and then pull the dwell sleeves out, this will release the rockers. Note: Take care at this point as there will be a thin joining metal bracket that will also come out with the rockers; it also kind of holds the cam in place too.

Now the cam will simply fall out, poking it from the other side.
