My Listening Plan

This listening lesson plan is for intermediate level students ages 16-18. LISTENING LESSON PLAN

Time : 20 min.

Level : intermediate

Gender : F/M

Age : 16/18

Materials : Video,handouts, role cards

Interaction : T/Ss-Ss/Ss

Assumption :

Anticipated Problems: The students may find difficult to understand the


listening text.

OBJECTIVES:

By the end of the lesson, the students:

1.will have improved their listening skills.

2.will have improved their speaking skillls.

3.will have grasped the topic clearly.

WARM- UP

Time : 5 min.

Materials : Video

Interaction: T/Ss-Ss/Ss

What the students do : The students share their thoughts and personal
experiences related to the topic.

Grouping : Whole class


Aims :

-to draw the students interest and attention to the topic,

-to motivate the students to listen the text,

-to activate their background information.

STEPS

1. The teacher shows a video about “April Fools’ Day joke” and asks have
you ever faced with such a joke?
2. After gathering their answers, The teacher fixes sts’ thoughts,feelings,
moves and attention on the first listening section.

WHILE LISTENING

Time : 10 min. (5 min. for each session)

Materials : Handouts

Interaction: T/Ss-Ss/Ss

What the students do : The students are asked to listen to the text and
understand the topic clearly.

Grouping : Whole class

First listening

Aims :

- To get the students have main idea.


- To get the students understand the the text in general.

STEPS:

1. The teacher introduces the listening text.


2. The teacher gives information about the listening text and gives
handouts.
3. Then the students are asked to listen to the text and answer the
questions.
4. After listening the text teacher checks their answers.

Second Listening
Aims :

-to get the students more specific information.

-to get the students understand the text in detail.

STEPS:

1. The students are asked to have a look at the incomplete sentences.


2. Then, the students listen to the text again and complete the sentences
with short answers.
3. The teacher checks the answers and corrects if there is a mistake.

POST LISTENING

Time : 5 min.

Materials : Role cards

Interaction: T/Ss-Ss/Ss

What the students do : The students make a dialogue and act out on the stage.

Grouping : In pairs.

Aims :

- To encourage students to use authentic language


- To encorage them to improve their speaking skills.
STEPS:

1. The teacher distribute the role cards and asks students to make a
dialogue.
2. After making the dialogue sts act out their roles on the stage.
