How To Extend Oracle Table Space

To extend an Oracle tablespace that is over 90% full, one must: 1) Open the BR*Tools command prompt and select the space management option to extend a tablespace. 2) Select the tablespace to extend from the list, where the used percentage is over 90%. 3) Confirm the extension of the selected high-usage tablespace.

How to Extend Oracle Tablespace

1) Open the command prompt


2) Type brtools and Enter

3) In the BR*Tools main menu, select option 2 – Space management and Enter
4) In the Database space management menu, select option 1 – Extend tablespace and Enter

5) Type c and Enter


6) Type c and Enter again

7) In the Tablespace extension main menu, select option 1 – Extend tablespace and Enter
8) You will see a list of tablespace. Take note of the Used [%] column, make sure that all the tablespace
are below 90%.

9) Press Enter to scroll to the next page. To extend the tablespace, select the number corresponding to
the tablespace.

In the example below, tablespace PSAPSTABD and PSAPSTABI are above 90%. We need to extend
both of them. Select 27 and Enter.
10) Type c and Enter

11) Type n and Enter


12) In the screen below, you can see the tablespace is now being extended.

13) Type c and Enter


14) To exit, select option 5 and Enter

15) Type y and Enter


16) Type c and Enter

17) Type b and Enter


18) Type 9 and Enter to exit the program

19) Type y and Enter
