rears its ugly
head again

The M4 East extension proposal may be just
part of a massive inner west motorway project,
according to a RTA internal document obtained
by the Village Voice.
Greens candidate for Balmain and Leichhardt
councillor, Rochelle Porteous, said that if the op-
tions outlined in the document are being consid-
ered it could cause traffic havoc in the Leichhardt
municipality.
“If this plan goes ahead it will mean a massive
increase in traffic in the inner west, with more rat
running. It will also have a big effect on our pub-
lic transport. When new motorways are opened
it funnels more cars on to the road,” Cr Porteous
said.
