Double Acting Ice Class Tanker

This document summarizes the design of a double acting ice class tanker. Key aspects include: 1. The hull geometry was designed with BSRA series and modified aft to meet ice breaking requirements and accommodate twin azipod propellers. 2. Resistance calculations were performed using various methods and the maximum value was selected, with 25% added for severe climate. Ice resistance was also calculated. 3. Main engines selected were 3 x 9TM620 with generators and transformers to power 2 x V125 azipod propellers, with propellers designed using TJ charts. 4. General arrangement includes crew spaces on various decks and a helipad amidships with lifeboats aft and azip

Résistance has been calculated by following method

 BSRA Method
 Holltrop – Menon
 Guldhammer – Harvald
 Max of the resistance value given by above method has been
selected.
 Ice resistance has been calculated by formula given in FSICR.
 25% allowance has been added to meet with severe climate .
 Wake fraction and thrust deduction factor has been selected from
FSICR.
