b) What is meant by a transaction? Discuss the properties of

some comments on it.

5.a) Describe the time and time stamps in a distributed database.


b) Explain clearly the termination protocols for 3-phase-
commitment.

6.a) What is meant by inconsistency? Discuss in detail about detection


and resolution of inconsistency.
b) Discuss about query processing.

7. Explain clearly the TANDEM’S ENCOMPASS distributed database


systems.

8. Write short notes on the following

b) Heterogeneous databases
