The magnetic force per unit length between two parallel wires is directly proportional to the square of the current. The acceleration of a wire segment of length a due to this force is directly proportional to the charge Q divided by the resistance R and capacitance C. For a capacitor with 2.5 microfarads charged to 3000 volts discharging through a wire 0.03 meters long, the initial velocity is calculated to be 0.347 meters per second. Using this initial velocity in the equation for vertical motion, the height reached by the wire above its original position is calculated to be 6.14x10-3 meters.
