Blu-ray is a next-generation optical disc format that was developed to provide high-definition video and audio playback as well as large data storage. It offers over 5 times the storage capacity of DVDs, with single-layer discs holding up to 25GB and dual-layer discs holding up to 50GB. Blu-ray uses a blue-violet laser rather than the red laser used in other optical disc formats, allowing it to store more data in a smaller space and achieving greater resolution than DVDs. Major electronics manufacturers and Hollywood studios support Blu-ray as the successor to DVDs for high-definition home entertainment.

Blu-ray Disc

Blu-ray (not Blue-ray) also known as Blu-ray Disc (BD), is the name of a next-generation optical disc format jointly develop
by the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA), a group of the world's leading consumer electronics, personal computer and me
manufacturers (including Apple, Dell, Hitachi, HP, JVC, LG, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, Pioneer, Philips, Samsung, Sharp, Sony, T

storing large amounts of data. The format offers more than five times the storage capacity of traditional DVDs and can hold
to 25GB on a single-layer disc and 50GB on a dual-layer disc. This extra capacity combined with the use of advanced video a
audio codecs will offer consumers an unprecedented HD experience.

While current optical disc technologies such as DVD, DVD±R, DVD±RW, and DVD-RAM rely on a red laser to read and write
